    The short answer

Yes. ValorWell has a great need for licensed therapists in Nebraska to treat Veterans, Veteran spouses, and children of Veterans by telehealth. You need an independent license in Nebraska, such as LIMHP, LMFT, LCSW, or psychologist, and your clients must be located in Nebraska during sessions.

Is ValorWell hiring therapists in Nebraska?

Yes. ValorWell has a great need for more licensed therapists in Nebraska. Veterans, Veteran spouses, and children of Veterans there are looking for therapists who accept CHAMPVA and VA Community Care, and there aren't enough.

VA estimates about 114,944 Veterans live in Nebraska, according to VA's fiscal year 2025 Annual Benefits Report.

Which licenses can treat Veterans and families in Nebraska?

The independent counselor license in Nebraska is the LIMHP (Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner), issued by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Licensure Unit. Nebraska also licenses Mental Health Practitioners (LMHP); the LIMHP is the independent license. ValorWell works with the independent clinical license. Licensed marriage and family therapists, independently licensed clinical social workers, and licensed psychologists in Nebraska also qualify, under the titles Nebraska uses.

For telehealth, the license has to match where the client is sitting during the session. To see a client located in Nebraska, you need a Nebraska license or a valid compact privilege. See Can Therapists See Telehealth Clients in Another State?

Can you practice in Nebraska through a compact?

    • Counseling Compact: Nebraska has enacted the compact but wasn't yet listed as issuing privileges as of October 2026. Until it does, counselors need a Nebraska license.
    • PSYPACT: Nebraska participates, so psychologists with PSYPACT authority can practice telepsychology with clients located there.
    • Social Work Licensure Compact: Nebraska has enacted it, but the compact isn't issuing multistate licenses yet.

Compact status changes often. See Counseling Compact, PSYPACT, and the Social Work Compact and the Counseling Compact map.

What VA care is available in Nebraska?

VA medical centers serving Nebraska include facilities in Omaha and Grand Island. Use VA's facility locator for clinics and Vet Centers near a client.

Nebraska is in Community Care Network Region 2, run by Optum. VA has started moving to new network contracts, so regions and administrators may change. Western Nebraska is rural, with long distances to VA care.

How does ValorWell work for therapists in Nebraska?

ValorWell is telehealth-first. You work from wherever you are, as a 1099 contractor:

    • You make the clinical decisions and set your availability and capacity.
    • ValorWell handles credentialing, authorizations, billing, and claims for CHAMPVA, VA Community Care, and the ValorWell Foundation.
    • You're paid weekly for sessions you documented, and denials don't come out of your pay.
    • The arrangement is nonexclusive, so you can keep a private practice too.

    Important limits

    • Need isn't a referral guarantee. Volume depends on client eligibility, authorizations, and fit.
    • Fully licensed only. Associates and prescribers aren't a fit right now.
    • Check the board. License titles and rules can change; the state board is the authority.
